BBC News reports 1.23 million units of Modern Warfare 2 sold in UK alone!

According to BBC News, Infinity Ward’s highly anticipated PS3 and X360 game, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has sold a record-breaking 1.23 million units in the UK – In just 24-hours!

BBC News reported that it has smashed the previous record, which was currently held by Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV, by almost double! And this figure is just for the UK alone, in just one day – A country with a population of only 61 million people – So imagine what the North American and worldwide sales figures are like!

In comparison, it is said that worldwide sales figures for Squaresoft’s 1997 epic, Final Fantasy VII, are around 10 million units – For a twelve year period… Modern Warfare 2 looks to have outsold this with just pre-orders and first day sales! The publishers, Activision, are thought to have grossed around £47 million from first-day UK sales

Activision announce Guitar Hero franchise first to 1 million Facebook fans

Activision recently released a statement on their website news page, that the Guitar Hero franchise is the first video-game franchise to surpass 1 million fans on the social networking site, Facebook.

The popularity of the Guitar Hero games is expanding, and it is reported that the franchise as a whole has sold over 38 million units worldwide since the series debuted on the PS2 back in 2005.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers (Special Edition) – UK Nintendo DS

The DS doesn’t have many Limited or Collector’s Editions (So far), but here’s one more to add to the very small list – Bakugan: Battle Brawlers (Special Edition) – Who says the home consoles are the only ones allowed to have LE’s & CE’s?

The UK version of the game is a limited package, and features an exclusive Limited Edition ‘Brawler’ ball, Naga. For those of you not familiar with Bakugan, Naga is a key character in the animated TV show

Many UK HMV & GAME customers receive Modern Warfare 2 a day early

Despite numerous statements earlier last week from both HMV and GAME, who were both adamant that they would not break the UK street date for the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it seems that these claims were all hot-air…

Many UK collector’s and gamers who pre-ordered the Prestige Edition from HMV.com, or Veteran Edition from GAME.com, were pleased to receive their delivery of these games sometime on Monday the 9th of November, a whole day before the game was due to be released, and many hours before various stores planned to open in the middle of the night for a midnight launch!

Keen Call Of Duty fans and gamers alike, who pre-ordered these editions months in advance, were pleased to boast on various online forums and gaming news blogs (Like EuroGamer.net and Kotaku) that they had indeed received their games early, and as a result were enjoying a significant ‘day-one edge’ – Whilst other gamers looking to get their copies early would have to queue up outside their local HMV or GAME stores to be able to purchase either the standard or Hardened editions of the game!

For those not wanting to brave the elements and travel into their nearest town for a crowded launch, many 24-hour Tesco Extra stores across the country also put the game out for sale at midnight
