The start of G-P's Sealed Wii Collection

(This collection thread was initially posted on the old SGH forum, and then ported over to this one in January 2009, therefore some information may not correspond to the date that the thread was created)

So far I have put off buying a Wii as I am waiting for Nintendo to release the console in other colours, or perhaps a Limited Edition console. Until now there hasn't really been many games for it that I am really interested in, apart from the few first-party Nintendo titles such as Twilight Princess, Mario Strikers Charged, and Warioware as well as Resident Evil 4

A few weeks ago I bought my first Wii game, Mario Party 8! Unable to buy the game on it's original launch (It got recalled by Nintendo and pulled off shop shelves due to a small percentage having an error), I tried bidding on many on eBay but the prices kept rising and rising. I then bought the game as soon as it was rereleased on the 3rd August 2007

I'll chronicle my Wii collecting in this thread and update it every time I buy a new Wii game.

Now is the best time to get them, because they'll soon start to go up in value just like the GameCube games before them, especially some of those earlier first party releases. Also don't overlook all those Sega games too, as they have as much of a cult following from the Sega fanboys which migrated to the Wii from the Dreamcast. Make sure to keep an eye out for RPG's too, as those are the ones that are dead certs to become rare and harder to find in the near future

RPGS and mario games are my primary targets. :)

I love PAL releases sometimes. What the hell is Eledees?

Eledees is the UK name for Elebits. It's a Konami game and I believe it's similar to Pikmin from what I can tell.

I treated myself to Cooking Mama II: World Kitchen today seeing as Tesco's seem to be having a sale on most of their Wii and DS games at the moment - They've knocked about 20% off most titles, which doesn't seem like much, but brought this game below £20

A first for a long while, this morning I bought EA Sports: Active Personal Trainer, which is a box set which includes a few fitness peripherals such as Leg strap, resistance band, and I also believe it contains a special motion sensing peripheral which plugs into the Wii-Mote, but I can't really tell without opening the box to check

Picked up Virtua Tennis 2009: Championship Edition this morning, which comes in a nice box set complete with 2 plastic tennis racquet peripherals

Just a cheapie today. Geometry Wars: Galaxies - I really enjoyed the game on the DS, so for under a fiver, can't really go far wrong

This brings the total to a round 30. I really do need to catch up and get some of the dozen or so games I have missed to bring this collection upto date

Today I picked up the rerelease of Resident Evil (Remake) Archives Edition (With extra waggle!), and was surprised to see that it was rather cheap at under £15! I half expected it to have been full priced, as seems to be the trend with rereleased first party GameCube-to-Wii games like Pikmin, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and Mario Tennis

I also picked up the rather crappy looking Limited Edition box set of Let's Tap, as that too was rather cheap (Probably for good reason! Lol!)

Lets Tap is actually meant to be really good :lol2: I also picked up the RE Remake as I'm a huge fan - I just wish the box art had been a bit better but then the GameCube one was pants too.

Yea, thought i'd pick up the 'Limited Edition' of Let's Tap while I could and whist it was cheap, before the box set's become hard to get hold of. As for Resident Evil - The box art is much better than those other rereleased GameCube-To-Wii games Nintendo have pushed out, and at least Capcom make an effort to blend it in as if it's really an archive game

Added The Conduit (Special Edition) this morning. The bizarre thing about this game is, there's this Special Edition, but no standard edition, leading me to believe that this will be a timed limited edition for the lucky ones who buy early, and a standard edition will soon follow once stocks of this edition have been depleated. Although the game seems to be getting poor and average reviews at the moment, so maybe they won't waste their time releasing a standard edition at all...

Did you get yours from play.com with the speakers?

I got mine this morning and the speakers box was packed right on top of the cardboard sleeve which has left it bent a little. It seems to have flattened out some now though.

No, simply because they looked quite shit to be honest. I don't really go for bundled trinkets anyway, unless they are actually packaged with the game inside. Things like keychains, exclusive online content cards... And these speakers etc are nothing more than cheap tat bundled alongside the game - I have no need and no space for such things. I did see that on PLAY.com, but it's just some cheap piece of merch which is branded with the game name, and not actually a true LE or CE. At least things like Bioshock and Fallout III make a collectible box set out of it. Same applied with Gear Of War II and the gold gun that GameStation were bundling with it, and all these other Amazon and PLAY.com offers.

Received Trauma Center: New Blood today! Been meaning to pick this up for a while, and saw it at a reasonable price on eBay. Red Nintendo tearstrip, and also an Atlus game which are very rarely seen here in the UK

Today I thought i'd treat myself to Metroid Prime: Trilogy (Collector's Edition), despite already owning all three games individually (The second and third games I have sealed)

However, I was a little disappointed though that the UK got a raw deal with this, and instead of the nice SteelBook which the US received, all we get is a cardboard slipcover. Still, it's a nice addition to the Metroid sub-collection, although I really would have liked Nintendo to have made a bit more effort for us here in the PAL territory, especially when they have gone to so much trouble to produce a nice SteelBook for the American market. The Wii has very few LE's and CE's as it is, and the few it does have aren't really anything very special at all compared to those available in other regions

Nothing too exciting today, just Soul Calibur Legends which I got for quite cheap from the bargain shelves of my local Tesco. No real reason I bought it, simply apart from the fact that it was cheap and just got the urge to buy it for some apparent reason. Perhaps sometime in the near future I might form a Project Soul sub-collection, as I have at least five or six games in the franchise...

Hi, i noticed the link's crossbow training in your pic, is yours sealed? if not did this game ever come sealed?

:lol3:

No, it's not, and I was very annoyed about this. I went down release day (As I usually do for big-box games), and this is how it was given to me. I have never seen a sealed one. The game inside was also not sealed, as is usually the case with pack-in's (Wii Fit was the same)

:) ... I thought that might be the case, i never seen a sealed one on ebay and so i though i'd get one off a reliable (debateable) internet seller, Play.com. Mine never arrived sealed either. I don't think this game without the big box so possible we will never see a sealed copy :)

Nice collection btw... i've started a wii collection but atm i only have a handful of games but i'm building up slowly (will post soon)... hopefully will be like yours soon in fact probably too much like yours, a lot of the games you have are on my wanted list. :lol2: I'm not planning on colecting the big box editions unless it's somthing that's really collectable like mariokart but i've just not got the space.

Well in the case of Mario Kart Wii, you have no other choice other than to buy the big box version with the steering wheel peripheral, as that's the only way it comes. Much like the Link's Crossbow Training, as you correctly pointed out, and is the same for Wii Fit (Obviously). Animal Crossing: Let's Go To Teh City is an exception, and is available separately or as a box set with the Wii Speak peripheral

With the Wii I have mainly been collecting the usual first party and exclusives, or anything which fits a sub-collection. There's a few things I wouldn't have usually have picked up, and only did so because they came in some kind of limited box set (Let's Tap, the EA Personal Fitness, and Virtua Tennis 2009 are a few which spring to mind), but as a general rule it's mainly just the Nintendo, Sega, Wii exclusives, and RPG's.

I have quite an extensive list of titles I am missing, although most are easily available on eBay right now but i'm just too lazy to bother with them at the moment as I am trying to focus on other aspects of my collection which I have slipped behind with, such as DS and PSP games and LE X360 games

Not quite everything! Lol. But seems the natural progression from GameCube games, and so many great games for the Wii which get obscured by all the shovelware which is out there. Games like NiGHTS and Klonoa tend to get missed amongst all the crap games, it's a shame really. These are the kinds of games which are going to be in demand in a few years time once the other collector's have finished with GameCube and want to move onto the next thing

I would really like to catch up with this collection though, as there aren't too many games left which are on my want list, but it's finding the time to sift through eBay and wade through all the rubbish which I haven't got time to do right now. Hopefully after Xmas I will knuckle down and make the effort...
