Back in 1993, Kellogg’s Frosties collaborated with Nintendo to offer a set of 24 collectible cards as promotional gifts inside packs of the popular breakfast cereal
This promotion ran in the UK (And I believe also in North America), with each numbered card featuring artwork and screenshots, as well as various trivia based on current GameBoy games at the time. Some even featured Kellogg’s Frosties mascot, Tony The Tiger! There were a total of 24 cards to collect, and were usually found in consecutive pairs, each with an accompanying sticker / scratchcard
Each card measures 57mm x 77mm, has angled corners, and has a slightly glossy finish
The sticker / scratchcard was a bonus, and featured a special area which could be scratched in order to reveal a winning (Or more commonly, a losing) prize symbol – Finding a winning symbol awarded you with one of the following prizes:
- Nintendo GameBoy
- Limited Edition Nintendo T-shirt
- Set of 5 Limited Edition Nintendo Pin Badges
- Limited Edition Nintendo Poster
The closing date for any winning entries was the 30th of August 1994
I recently discovered an almost complete set of these cards at a collectible card trading event, and thought they looked distinctive and perhaps may of interest to a Nintendo collector or archivist. The cards are in excellent condition for their age, and have not been separated from their corresponding counterpart. The sticker / scratchcards seem to have been scratched, although this can probably be forgiven as any kid at the time wouldn’t want to be unknowingly holding onto a winning scratchcard
The incomplete set comprises of ten pairs (Plus sticker / scratchcards) out of a possible total of twelve. Although there are twelve pairs of cards present, two are duplicates
The last four cards / stickers in the set do not feature actual GameBoy games, but instead show images of Tony The Tiger posing with popular characters such as Mario, Samus Aran, and Simon Belmont
Cards present include:
- -
- -
- Super Mario Land 2
- Super Mario Land 2

The missing two pairs are Super Mario Land and Metroid II: Return Of Samus
As far as I can tell, these collectible cards are exceptionally rare to find after fifteen years, especially unseparated and in such immaculate condition, complete with stickers
I was unable to find much information about these cards online, and very little is known about them apart from the year they were in circulation and the fact that they were found in promotional packs of Kellogg’s Frosties. The only reference I could find about them was on themushroomkingdom.net, where there exists only a solitary picture of another incomplete set (Shown below)
